TNT Standout Lawrence Becky Helps Nigeria to Silver at FIBA U18 Women's AfroBasket

TNT Basketball Academy is celebrating one of its own this week, as academy product Lawrence Becky represented Nigeria at the FIBA U18 Women's AfroBasket in Côte d'Ivoire, helping the Junior D'Tigress campaign all the way to the final and a silver medal finish.

Becky, wearing jersey No. 8 for Nigeria, was part of a squad that battled through the group stage before advancing to a hard-fought final against Mali on Sunday, 16 August. Nigeria's run included a tense group-stage win over Tunisia, 54-50, a result that set the tone for the team's composure under pressure throughout the tournament.

In the final, Nigeria came up just short against Mali, settling for the silver medal after a tournament that showcased the depth and fight of Nigerian women's basketball at the youth level. Becky and her teammates were honoured in the medal ceremony alongside the gold medal-winning side, capping off a memorable campaign on the continental stage.

For TNT Basketball Academy, seeing Becky represent the country at this level is a proud validation of the work being done on its courts in Abuja. It's exactly the kind of pathway the academy has built its reputation on: young athletes developing fundamentals and discipline locally, then carrying that training onto Nigeria's biggest stages. Becky's silver medal run joins the growing list of moments — from hosting ABA's Summer League to welcoming NBA veteran Al-Farouq Aminu — that have defined a standout stretch for the academy.

TNT extends its congratulations to Lawrence Becky and the entire Nigeria U18 Women's team on a hard-earned silver medal, and looks forward to celebrating more of its athletes on the international stage.
